No Names find their identity in 6-1 win

Jared Mossembekker and Eric Bergeron each scored two goals and the No
Names found their identity in a 6-1 victory over the HB Surf in AYSO
Region 117 boys’ Under-14 Division soccer action.
The No Names entered the new season without a moniker, known
simply as Team 354 when they took on HB Surf.
First period goals by Matt McCoy, Bergeron and Mossembekker, set
up by assists by Jeffrey Wold and Brandon Messer, propelled the team
to a 3-0 lead.
Wold later assisted Mossembekker’s second goal to make it a 4-1
game, Bergeron scored on a breakaway at the outset of the second half
and Justin Rodriguez closed out the scoring with a goal off a
deflected shot.
Eddie Rodriguez came up with several saves in goal and the No Name
defense was led by sweeper Read Hersh and fullbacks James Hensley and
Andrew Lindsey.
In other’ boys’ action:
Under-12 Divison
Blue Crushers 4, Golden Eagles 4
Forwards Ryan Hakes and Mario Esparza each scored two goals as the
Blue Crushers won their season opener.
Matthew Steinhaus scored the other Blue Crushers goal and forward
Anthony George and mid-fielders Marvin Alteir, Ben Cheng, Nick Graham
and Michael LaPlante aided the offense.
Jeremy Alvarez, Austin Kottkamp, Dylan McDonald and Mark Mina led
the Blue Crushers defense and McDonald and Steinhaus shared
goaltending duties.
In girls’ AYSO action:
Region 56
Under-12 Division
Crushers 4, San Clemente 0
Taylor Thorpe registered the shutout in goal as the Huntington
Beach Crushers cruised past San Clemente in AYSO Plus play.
Thorpe was backed by the defensive work of Brianna Demes, Lily
Khosroupour, Rachel Pasternak and Danielle Miller, with mid-field
support coming from Alli Budd, Long Dove and Breanne Justice.
Alison Hensley opened up the scoring with a first quarter goal on
a penalty kick, Osiris Ceja scored in the second period, Kristen
Marony scored in the third and Arielle Freleaux scored in the fourth
period.
Region 117 Under-10 Division
Hammerheads 2, Raspberry Crush 1
Raquel Clark’s third period goal broke a scoreless tie and helped
send the Hammerheads to a season-opening victory at Gisler School in
Huntington Beach.
Dannielle Duron made it a 2-0 game with a fourth period score.
Lindsay Bebout scored for the Raspberry Crush to narrow the gap to
2-1.
