The shift to the shotgun was made...

The shift to the shotgun was made to better feature this third-year
starter’s passing talent. Offensive production rides greatly on his
shoulders.
The speedy tailback will be a key contributor, especially in the
season opener when he will be the starter. He will also play in the
secondary.
One of the primary players along the defensive line, which is the
strength of the defense. He has shown skills as both a run-stopper
and pass-rusher.
His expected return in Week 2 should complete the transition to
the shotgun offense. The tailback is plenty capable of breaking long
runs.
Another strong link in the chain on the defensive line, he will
provide opportunities for stunts and blitzes.
The veteran leader will be counted upon for his versatility. He’ll
play primarily on the defensive line, but spend time on the offensive
front, as well.
Hoping to provide consistency to the linebacking corps as an
outside ‘backer, he will sometimes come up to the line to attack.
A pioneer, so to speak, in the sense that he is one of the key
receivers who will be making big plays in the Vikings’ new shotgun
offense.
One of the leaders on the offensive line at center and one of the
best at winning the one-on-one battle in pass protection.
The leader among the linebackers will also take charge of the
entire defense as an inside ‘backer. He also doubles as the tight
end.
