Here’s one who will be jumping aboard the CenterLine
I do support this CenterLine and only wish it could be brought
from Bristol Street down Newport Boulevard or the freeway to the
beach area of Newport, so as to get people to the beach or the
entertainment area.
Anyway, I do support it.

Leece’s words pull the fleece away from our eyes
I just read Wendy Leece’s column in the Daily Pilot and I want to
commend her on her courage to say what a lot of people are afraid to
say: We do have a problem here in Newport, the entire state of
California has a problem, the entire United States (“Did Nichols’
opponents make too much noise? Tuesday). We have far too many illegal
immigrants who are causing problems to the infrastructure, to the
economy, the degradation to our medical system and just about
anything else you can name.
My great-grandparents came over legally through Ellis Island, as
all the rest of them did. They paid their dues.
Some of my family have died in wars defending this country. I,
myself, served in Korea. I think it’s terrible that we are allowing
this wave of illegal immigrants to continue on forever because it is
cheap labor and the large corporations just love it.
But what’s going to happen, we’ll see. It’s going to ruin the
entire state of California and already it’s showing.
I know a lot of other people -- because I have talked to them --
are feeling the same way. So let’s call a spade a spade and quit
pussy-footing around.
Everybody knows we have an immigration problem. A serious
immigration problem, and it’s only going to get worse.
