Marianne Towersey played target golf at its ultimate precision
Tuesday on the 11th hole at Santa Ana Country Club.
For the fifth time in her career and third on the same hole,
Towersey carded a hole in one.
A 19-time Santa Ana CC women’s club champion , Towersey used an
eight-iron on the 125-yard par-three 11th hole.
“It bounced once in front of the hole and went in,” said Towersey,
playing in a ladies day event with Margaret Darnell, Ann Hirschman,
Tracy Larson and Lin Stafford.
“I told the group, ‘[I have a feeling someone will have a hole in
one [Tuesday],’ ” Towersey recalled. “I wish I would have saved it
for the Tea Cup.”
Towersey started on the back nine Tuesday, opening with a birdie
on 10 before the eagle at 11. She shot a 34 on the back and a 42 on
the front.
Towersey will compete in Tea Cup Classic VII on Friday at 1:30
p.m. at Mesa Verde Country Club. The public is welcome to gallery.
There is no charge. A dress code is enforced at Mesa Verde.
