Sharon Day competes in Barbados today

Sharon Day, the former Costa Mesa High star athlete, will compete in
the high jump today at the Pan American junior championships in
athletics in Barbados.
Day, 18, the Orange County and CIF Southern Section record-holder
in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches), left Monday and will represent
the U.S. team at the international track and field meet.
She qualified for the Pan American championships after finishing
second in the high jump (5-10) at the USA junior outdoor track and
field championships June 21.
The top two finishers qualified for the Pan American
championships.
The high jump will be contested on the first day of the three-day
meet.
