Legacy Softball Club, a local 18-and-under fastpitch team, has
qualified for the American Softball Assn. National Tournament.
Legacy, created by coaches and players from Huntington Beach Girls
Softball League, finished second overall at this weekend’s regional
tournament at Stockton.
Legacy began the tournament with a four-day game schedule on
Saturday and defeated the Clovis Rockets, 2-1, the lady Hustle, 1-0
and the North Bay Renegades, 6-1.
They ended the day with a 2-0 loss to eventual tournament champion
North Valley Rapids.
But Legacy bounced back from that defeat by winning its final
three tournament games.
The streak began with a 3-0 win over Chaos of Oakland followed by
a 2-0 shutout of Sudden Impact of Southern California.
In their final game, Legacy dominated Greater San Joaquin Odyssey,
8-0. Odyssey had been the tournament’s top scoring team entering the
game.
Legacy is made up of Cassi Bailey, Cynthia Bailey, Ramona Garcia,
Brittany Heinle, Christine Hickey, Holly Jackson, Nicole LaPier,
Jessica Lupton, Amanda Marchegiano, Anne Mureau, Iris Murray, Kathryn
Richards, Ashlee Tupper, Christina Wakeman and coaches Bill Jackson,

Legacy will travel to Garland, Texas at the end of the month to
compete at the national tournament.
