Dodgers survive Pirates

Pitching played a key role in the outcome of the Dodgers-Pirates

Majors Division battle at Seaview Little League, won by the Dodgers,

5-4.

The Dodgers made the most out of their five hits off Pirate

pitchers Tyler Leamer and Billy Keller. Brandon Visnoski singled

twice and Kurt Heyer, Chance Ross and A.J. Vaccaro each had a hit for

the Dodgers.

Josh Lesinski and Visnoski were equally as stubborn on the mound,

yielding singles to Leamer, Michar Morrison, Nick Locey, Morgan

Duffy, Trevor Robinson and Aaron Ochoa.

In other Majors play:

Dodgers 6, Angels 6

Darkness ended this game that was tied through eight innings of

play.

Kurt Heyer, Chance Ross and Brandon Visnoski combined pitching to

strike out 12 Angels.

Ross and Visnoski had big offensive games with two hits apiece and

Heyer walked twice and scored two runs.

For the Angels, Chris Czerniakowski, Kyle Boswell and Ryan Miller

combined to strike out 10 Dodgers.

The Halos mustered just three hits in the game with singles going

to Boswell, Czerniakowski and J.B. Bryant.

In Ocean View Little League Majors play:

Twins 5, A’s 3

Jonathon Combest’s fourth inning home run highlighted the Twins’

triumph.

Andy Ragsdale’s complete game victory included 11 strikeouts with

just two hits allowed.

Brian Gurdine, Justin Rogers, Tyler Girvin and Nick Schulenburg

each had key hits for the Twins.

Twins 8, Dodgers 0

Jonathon Combest went the distance and recorded 10 strikeouts and

limited the Dodgers to just three hits as the Twins rolled.

Combest was backed by an offense that saw Kevin Mackey, Justin

Rogers, Daniel Tierney and Nick Schulenburg each single.

Combest also singled.

In Ocean View Minor A play:

Giants 10, Angels 4

With Scot Bailey leading a potent offense and Austin Barlow and

Kevin Stoops combining to toss a two-hitter, the Giants defeated the

Angels in a battle between two teams fighting for sole possession of

first-place in the Minor A Division standings.

Bailey’s three for three hitting performance included a triple,

double and single, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Nick Hansen and Jake Rubino each contributed two hits and Trevor

Geery, Lars Jensen and Kevin Stoops each collected two RBIs for the

Giants.

In addition to limiting the Halos to two hits, Barlow and Stoops

also struck out 11.

Dodgers 10, Marlins 5

The Dodgers broke out of a hitting slump in a big way, getting 15

off Marlins pitching.

The assault was led by Quinn Herndon, Tyler Sluman, Bryan Perez,

Matt O’Connor and Montana Merhoff who each had two hits and included

a sixth inning RBI single by Micah Womak.

Mark Johnston turned in a big game both offensively and on the

mound. He went three for three and pitched three, no-hit innings with

seven strikeouts.

Evan Archer relieved Johnston in the sixth and secured the

victory.

Giants 9, Mets 2

A four-run first inning gave the Giants a quick start in their win

over the Mets.

Jake Rubino went two for two with a double, walked and collected

three RBIs. Kevin Stoops also went two for two with a double and

walked and scored three runs.

Lars Jensen doubled and matched Rubino with three RBI.
