New employees gather at the club
Managers of the Balboa Bay Club Resort and Spa gathered together
their new staff Friday. More than 450 employees showed up for a
company picture.
After interviewing more than 900 applicants, Bay Club managers
added about 250 new employees to help run the remodeled and expanded,
resort. The Bay Club is scheduled to reopen May 15.
The club has more than doubled its staff. Henry Schielein, the
club’s president, met with each employee who would have contact with
guests. Schielein has said he hopes to secure the coveted Five
Diamond rating from the Automobile Club of Southern California.
In a speech before the new employees, Clarence Garlough, who spend
42 years working for the Auto Club, explained the requirements for
the rating.
