MONDAY * Park Avenue: A 34-year-old construction...

MONDAY

* Park Avenue: A 34-year-old construction worker fell from a

scaffold and broke his arm while putting up a wall at Thurston Middle

School. The safety rail to the scaffold and ladder collapsed when the

victim tried to reach over and grab a cinder block from his co-worker

at around 10 a.m. He said he fell 15 to 18 feet onto the concrete.

* South Coast Highway: Someone apparently knocked the awning off

the front window of a business in the 200 block. The incident was

reported at 8:09 a.m.

* Vista Lane: Three victims in the same house in the 600 block

said they had received about 20 annoying phone calls from the same

party throughout the night. The suspect, a 55-year-old L.A. resident,

was allegedly drunk and trying to talk to his girlfriend, who had

gone to the suspect’s sister’s house. The suspect’s sister’s husband

was the third victim. The calls were reported at 3:43 a.m.

SUNDAY

* Table Rock Beach: Police arrested a 55-year-old man who had made

a bonfire on Table Rock Beach at around 7 p.m. after discovering

outstanding warrants for burglary, petty theft and petty theft with a

prior.

* Laguna Canyon Road: Police took a 42-year-old woman to a

psychiatric hospital in Santa Ana after she allegedly broke several

windows at a vacant lot and threatened officers with a curtain rod.

Police said the woman became belligerent and advanced toward the

questioning officer with the curtain rod when he entered the home.

She dropped the rod when she saw his tazer gun. When they responded,

police saw glass shards littering the rear of the lot and a woman

pacing in an otherwise empty house in 2600 block at 4:20 p.m. Police

are still determining whose house she was in.

SATURDAY

* Summit Place: Police arrested a 24-year-old on suspicion of

felony battery charges against his mother and father. Multiple

officers reported to the home in the 1100 block at 11:18 a.m. that

many officers said they had been to before for various reasons. When

police arrived, the father and son were yelling. The son soon started

spewing profanity at police and his father. Police saw a cut on the

father’s ear and a visible bruise on the mother’s hand that was

swelling up, which she said been caused when her son threw a bottle

at her. The suspect was taken to Orange County Jail.

* Glenneyre Street: A 21-year-old UC Berkeley student called

police saying that six of his friends had beaten him up and fled,

leaving him with his tongue caught in his braces at around 1 a.m.

When police spoke to the victim in the 900 block, they saw no signs

of a fight. The fire department arrived to take him to South Coast

Medical Center to separate his tongue from his braces, but he refused

and ripped it free himself. When firefighters tried to assist him, he

reportedly assaulted them. He was arrested under suspicion of being

drunk in public.

APRIL 18

* Manzanita Drive: Police took a 61-year-old to Hoag Hospital

after he called to report that he had taken an overdose of Zanex and

sleeping pills in an attempt to commit suicide. Doctors quickly

treated the victim, and he survived.

* Viejo Street: A neighbor called police to report that a Scottish

terrier had gotten its muzzle caught in the wires of its backyard

cage and was bleeding and yelping in pain. Several neighbors were

around the house in the 200 block when police arrived at around noon,

one of whom had climbed over the fence and freed the dog. Animal

control took the dog to the vet.

* Main Beach: Police arrested a 54-year-old under suspicion of

stealing a shopping cart from Ralph’s at around 7:30 a.m. and for not

registering with police as a sex offender. Because the suspect is

homeless, he’s required to register with the police every 60 days.

APRIL 17

* Broadway: A 26-year-old tried to run from police after

reportedly trying to steal two cans of Budweiser from Wild Oats at

7:30 p.m., but was caught at Main Beach. The suspect had been accused

of trying to steal beer from Pavilion’s shortly before the incident.

After a Wild Oats manager reportedly witnessed him stuffing the beers

into his pants and confronted him, he offered to pay for them. He

fled when the manager refused. After he was caught, police discovered

he was in the country illegally. He is expected to be deported after

facing charges here.

* Cress Street: A 30-year-old cleaning lady claimed the

24-year-old son of a client tried to kiss her while she worked in a

residence on the 400 block at 6:36 p.m. She said he had been

following her around the house making comments before trying to kiss

her. The incident, which involved no physical contact, was recorded

as a sexual assault.

* South Coast Highway: A couple who ate a $25 lunch at Natraj

allegedly left without paying the bill at 2:20 p.m. A patron took

down the pair’s license plate number, and the police are now

investigating the incident.

APRIL 15

* Canyon Acres Drive: Police arrested a male and female for

possession of methamphetamine and child endangerment after conducting

a random search of their home in the 400 block. The 46-year-old man

and 40-year-old woman were on probation for drugs, thus subject to

random search and seizures by police. The charge of child

endangerment was included because the female suspect’s 10-year-old

son was present.
