Garden Tour ready for participants

The Laguna Beach Garden Club will hold its Spring Garden Tour from 11

a.m. to 4 p.m. May 1.

Seven gardens will be on display. Ticket prices are $20. The fee

covers addresses of homes, directions and parking information.

include one first-class postage stamp for each ticket ordered.)

On May 9, Rex Yarwood of Haster Grove, a Laguna Beach retail

garden center, will discuss summer perennials at the Friday meeting

of the Laguna Beach Garden Club at the Neighborhood Congregational

Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

After Yarwood’s presentation will be the installation of officers

and a luncheon. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. Visitors are

welcome for the program on perennials, which will begin at 10 a.m.

Wilderness Park’s 10th anniversary events set

A day of outdoor events is set in honor of the 10th anniversary of

Laguna Coast Wilderness Park Saturday.

The activities will begin at 8 a.m. with special hikes and

wilderness access activities.

At 8 a.m., there will be special docent-led hikes and a five-mile

Dartmoor Street hike.A 3.5-mile Ridge Park hike will take place

later. Meet at Willow Canyon Staging Area and ride a free shuttle to

trail access point. Hikes conclude back at the parking area. Also at

8 a.m., the Laurel Canyon loop guided hike is available.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., participate in Wilderness Access Activities

for hikers, mountain cyclists and equestrians. Park at the Willow

Canyon Staging Area or -- for hiking only -- Dilley Preserve on

Laguna Canyon Road.

At 11 a.m., Orange County Supervisor Thomas W. Wilson and Laguna

Canyon Foundation President Michael Pinto will share updates on the

proposed James and Rosemary Nix Nature Center and Interpretive

Program, recognition of major park donors and a status report on the

Laguna Canyon Road realignment project and its effect on the park.

Meet at Willow Canyon Staging Area, 20101 Laguna Canyon Road, for the

ceremony.

Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show set

St. Catherine of Siena Council of Catholic Women will hold its

annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. May 13 at Tivoli Too, 777

Laguna Canyon Road.

Woman’s club ready for Cinco de Mayo party

The Woman’s Club is inviting the public to a night of dancing, fun

and nibbles in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

Sangria and light hors d’oeuvres will be served from 7 to 11 p.m.

May 2 at the Woman’s Club Clubhouse, 286 St. Ann’s Drive. There will

Society to discuss Jewish view on war

The Jewish havura -- society of friends -- of Laguna Beach is

inviting the public to its second gathering at Bluebird Canyon Park

from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The discussion topic is “Is There a Jewish View on the War in

Iraq?” It will base the discussion on Thomas Friedman’s “Attitudes

and Longitudes.”
