Aloha Airlines to fly to Kona from JWA
On Thursday, Aloha Airlines announced it would begin nonstop
flights from John Wayne Airport to Kona, on the island of Hawaii,
beginning July 2.
To introduce the new service, Aloha will offer a $399 round-trip
fare until July 31. The fare does not include an $18.50 fuel
surcharge and $10 Sept. 11 security fee.
Aloha already runs three daily fights out of Orange County. The
airline flies daily to Honolulu and Maui, as well as Phoenix.
“The popularity of our flights out of John Wayne to Honolulu and
Maui has prompted us to offer daily flights to Kona,” said Glenn
Zander, Aloha’s president and chief executive.
Aloha will fly Boeing 737-700 aircraft on the routes. It will have
12 first-class seats and 112 coach seats.
Aloha Flight 485, as it will be known, will depart from John Wayne
at 8:05 a.m. and arrive at Keahole Kona International Airport at
10:42 a.m. Flight 486 will depart Kona at 1:40 p.m. and arrive in
Orange County at 9:44 p.m.
