Hobie Sports outlasts VFW

First place was on the line in the Majors Division standings when
Hobie Sports and VFW battled it out in at Riddle Field earlier this
week.
Hobie had just enough to hold on for a 2-1 win the in Laguna Beach
Little League.
Hobie broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. Tyler Pierce and
Dillon Pierce each singled and Keaton Jones drew a walk before Eli
Viszolay delivered an RBI for a 1-0 lead.
An RBI ground out by Matt Moisen led to Hobies’ second run of the
inning.
VFW answered with a run in the fifth inning when Wyatt Innins hit
an RBI.
In the sixth, Dillon Pierce struck out the final two batters to
give Hobie its 10th overall win.
The game was a pitcher’s duel between Gabe Stansbury and Alex
Germano.
Tyler Pierce singled twice and Stansbury, Jones and Brian Yale all
had singles in the contest.
Mikey Rubel had six assists at second base for VFW.
Cole and Chris Kennedy, Tyler Pierce, Dillon Pierce, Jones, Zac
Johnston and Jackson Christy keyed Hobies defense.
IN OTHER GAMES:
American Legion 4, Rotary 1
Alek Burk’s two-run single led an American Legion attack that
featured a double and single by Christian Kessler, a double by
Harrison Skylar and singles by Kyle Snyder, Andrew Padden, Noah
Barker and Travis Woloson.
Woloson and Tyler MacRae shared pitching duties and scattered four
hits.
Kyle Snyder had four put outs at shortstop for American Legion.
Brett Linkletter, Jack Monroe, Will Bonsey and John Palfreyman all
singled for Rotary.
Hobie Sports 9, American Legion 6
Dillon Pierce went three for three with a double and RBI, Alex
Germano had two hits which included a double and pair of RBIs to lead
and Keaton Jones hit a game-clinching, two-run single to lead Hobie.
Jones finished with two hits and Zac Johnston also doubled for
Hobie.
Will Burk, Andrew Padden, Noah Barker led American Legion.
