Dodgers grab sole spot at the top of the heap

In a showdown for first place in the Minor A Division lead, the

Dodgers got the best of the Giants, 7-4, in a showdown at Ocean View

Little League.

Matt O’Connor had two hits and two RBI and Evan Archer had a pair

of singles and an RBI to lead the Dodgers on offense.

Mark Johnston pitched three, shutout innings for the Dodgers and

struck out six.

The win gave the Dodgers sole possession of first place at 6-1.

IN OTHER GAMES:

Dodgers 19, Reds 9

Alden Mathews ripped four hits and had seven RBI and Evan Archer

finished with three hits and four RBI to power the Dodgers.

Bryan Perez pitched three solid innings and Micah Womack keyed the

Dodgers’ defense.

In Minor B play:

Orioles 12, Red Sox 2

Starter Benjamin Drolet, reliever Casey Hayes and closer A.J.

Sutton kept the Red Sox at bay as the Orioles won by 10 runs.

Drolet, Hayes, Luke Fell, Robert Baker and Scotty Bowman each

doubled to trigger a seven-run, fourth inning for the Orioles.

Rangers 19, Red Sox 9

The pitching of Robert Fogarty, Jonathon Lancaster and Scott Zech

combined to strike out 13 for the Rangers.

Fogarty and Patrick Shaughnessy each had big games on offense with

five hits and three runs scored apiece.

Zech, David Elias and Pedro Gonzalez each had multiple hits.

White Sox 19, Braves 6

The White Sox’s entire roster got into the action and recorded 23

hits.

Jake Arledge, Conrad Massam, Alec Villalobos and Thomas Harer each

had three hits and Matt Kelly, Joe Varney, Brett Berns and Ryan Smith

each had two hits.

Varney, Villalobos and Kelly combined for the pitching win.

At Seaview Little League:

Majors Division

Dodgers 2, Angels 0

The Dodgers fielded just nine players for this showdown and won a

defensive battle with the Angels.

Entering the game, the Dodgers, Angels and Padres all shared first

place.

Ryan Smith had the Dodgers’ lone hit and also made a diving catch

to end the fourth inning.

Other Dodgers to have big games defensively included centerfielder

Benjamin Tinsley whose catch of a fly ball ended the game, second

baseman Josh Lesinski and catcher Brandon Visnoski.

Visnoski also stole three bases and scored both Dodger runs.

Dean Wall, Nico Buntich, Kyle Bosswell, Chris Czerniachowski and

JB Bryant all had hits for the Angels.

Dodgers 12, Giants 1

Starting pitcher Chance Ross got the win and also went three for

three with two runs scored on offense.

Zack Campbell and AJ Vaccaro each hit doubles and scored a run,

Lesinski and Jordan Luevano each had key hits, Brandon Visnoski

scored three runs and Ben Tinsley and Dylan Ybarra each scored twice.

Jarrod Merryman doubled and Jake Demers singled for the Giants.
