Sea Kings ring some bells

Junior Chris Ringstrom opened some eyes on Thursday, clocking a 22.0
in the 200-meter dash in Corona del Mar High’s 120-7 lacing of
visiting Calvary Chapel.
Ringstrom, slated to vie at the Arcadia Invitational Saturday in
the 400, doubled with a 51.0 effort in the 400, off his best of
49.76.
He caught the field in the 200 from the staggered start by the
time 50 meters was run.
Additionally, he anchored both winning relays.
Kevin Artz doubled in the 800 and 1,600, going 2:02.4 and 4:52.0,
and Andrew Wong (17-9 in the high jump), sophomore Blaine Gribble
(117-101/2 in the discus) and Eemaan Jalili (18.7 in the 110 hurdles)
led the Sea Kings’ domination.
It was more of the same in the girls’ domination of Calvary
Chapel, with Melissa Swigert duplicating Ringstrom’s efforts, winning
the 200 and 400 in 26.4 and 59.8, and finishing off both winning
relay teams as CdM logged a 113-9 victory.
The boys are now 2-1 and the girls 3-0 in league dual meets.
Coach Bill Sumner said he was surprised at the margins of victory.
Although it was Calvary Chapel’s home meet, it was held at Corona
del Mar because of a lack of facilities at Calvary Chapel’s campus.
A week ago it was Laguna Beach which was blown out, the girls
winning, 121-0, and the boys taking a 110-17 decision.
Becky Cummins had a nice double in the distance races, stopping
the clocks in 5:34.1 and 12:00.0.
Lindsey Wood won the discus with a solid effort (84-0) and Ravi
Chiambolatti took the shot put in 28-1.
Also with a solid finish was Stephanie Sitzer with a 55.0 in the
300 hurdles.
Anne St. Geme, a 1,600 entry at Arcadia on Saturday, won the 800
in 2:25.0.
Perhaps because of Arcadia on Saturday, it was St. Geme’s only
event of the day.
