Sailors fall in 11 innings

Newport Harbor High’s softball team is 1-1 in league, 8-4 overall,
and but for four one-run losses, the Sailors could be in the sphere
of 12-0.
Irvine High’s Vaqueros were the latest to frustrate the Sailors
with the one-run hex as they pushed across a run in the bottom of the
11th inning to end a three-hour Sea View League game at Heritage
Park.
Kim Moore was the hardluck loser, allowing four hits and striking
out 11 over the 11-inning duel.
Amanda Campbell was 2 for 5 at the plate and the Sailors got to
Irvine pitching for seven hits, but they stranded 10 baserunners.
Irvine improves to 4-10, 1-1.
The Sailors return to Sea View play April 22 when they host Laguna
Hills.
