ON THE AGENDA
CITY HALL FACE LIFT
The council will hear a presentation tonight on a subject near and
dear to their hearts: City Hall. Cramped quarters for employees,
seismic inadequacies and a serious shortage of parking are just a few
of shortcomings prompting the question: Should City Hall be renovated
or even completely wrecked and rebuilt?
WHAT TO EXPECT
Hired consultant Griffin Advisors will present different scenarios
for upgrading the aging structure. Their recommendation: Scrap the
whole complex, and replace it with a better, bigger facility that
includes a new fire station and a 350-space parking structure. The
council will discuss alternatives, but they won’t take any action
tonight.
CLIFF DRIVE PLAYGROUND
Old playground equipment that’s not compliant with the Americans
With Disabilities Act could be replaced with newer, better equipment
at Cliff Drive Park. The council will consider spending $37,694 on
new equipment.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It’s on the council’s consent calendar, which means they’re
expected to approve it. Once the city has bought the equipment, there
will still be more to pay: The city will seek bids from companies to
install the equipment.
