Firefighters get win over Sportsworld

The pitching and hitting of Brennen Mulvaney and Daniel Seleven

sparked the Firefighters in their 3-1 victory over Sportsworld in

Laguna Beach Little League action this week.

Mulvaney worked the mound the first three innings. He struck out

the side in the second inning, and recorded two more strikeouts in

the third.

He was relieved by Seleven who struck out four during the final

three innings.

Hits by both players led to two Firefighter runs in the second

inning which gave their team a 2-0 lead.

Seleven later scored on Andrew Shapero’s RBI double.

In AAA Division action:

SG Roofing 8, Team Nolan 5

Down 5-1 heading into its final at-bat, SG Roofing came up with a

seven-run rally to stun Team Nolan.

Jake Glazer, Sammy Witte and Michael Hyden each had sixth-inning

singles and Tyler Kesler doubled to key the rally.

Relief pitcher Michael Seal sealed SG Roofing’s comeback win by

sending Team Nolan down in order in the bottom of the seventh.

Glazer also had a first-inning RBI single.

Team Nolan scored five runs in the third inning behind base hits

by Ben Hansen, Remy Zona, Luke Barker and Travis Simpson.

Hyden kept SG Roofing in the game by shutting down Team Nolan’s

offense in the fourth and fifth innings, registering six strikeouts.

Kelser and Glazer led SG Roofing with two hits each.

Zona, Austin Hilleman and Adam Dunchess each had two hits for Team

Nolan.

SG Roofing 15, Prudential 5 Down 4-1 after one inning, SG Roofing scored six runs in the third

inning to grab the lead for good, then iced the game with an

eight-run outburst in the fifth inning.

Tyler Kesler led the SG Roofing attack with a three for three game

which included a double and Michael Hyden and Jake Glazer each had

two hits.

Drew Romano doubled during the eight-run fifth.

Norty Perry led Prudential’s attack with a double and single and

Willie Robinson singled.

The pitching of Kesler, Hyden and Glazer limited Prudential to

three hits. Kesler and Hyden each had five strikeouts and Glazer kept

Prudential scoreless in his two innings on the mound.

SG Roofing 15, Coldwell Banker 13

SG Roofing held a seemingly-safe, 13-3 lead heading into the

bottom of the fourth inning, but had to hold for the win.

Michael Hyden had three hits including a double and scored four

runs, Tyler Kesler had two hits and scored three runs to lead SG

Roofing.

Coldwell Banker was led by Jack Clark who went three for four with

two doubles and a triple and Sawyer Pierce who doubled twice and

singled.

Laguna Beach Police 7, Team Nolan 6

Laguna Beach Police overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat Team Nolan.

Travis Sampson had an RBI double and RBI single to lead Team

Nolan.

Kirk Knott had an RBI single for Laguna Beach Police.

In AA Division action:

Crane Financial 7, Brandy’s Friends 5

Down three runs with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning,

Avery Crowl, Rickie De La Torre, Hutton McKenna and Alex Shapiro

rallied Crane Financial to its first win of the season.

John Jory 4, Laguna Batting Cages 0

Cole Kessler hit three home runs and accounted for all of his

team’s runs to lead John Jory.

Rex Kelly tripled for John Jory.

Tim Peterson doubled for Laguna Batting Cages.

Oysters 4, Javiers 4

Conner Ward had two RBI and Cayman Elkin had an RBI double for

Javiers.

Nathan Thomas, Joe Redfearn, Teague Hamilton and Bryan Ludloff

each had RBIs for Oysters.
