Lennar Homes celebrates successful first year of charitable

effort

One year ago, Lennar Homes launched a Legacy of Hope with its new

Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation, which takes a small percentage

of the sale price of every home sold at participating communities and

distributes the funds to such respected organizations as HomeAid

America and Habitat for Humanity.

Recently, the Foundation celebrated its first year during a

poolside ceremony at Lennar’s Mystic Pointe community in Huntington

Beach -- one of the builder’s first communities to participate in the

Foundation. Highlighted by the donation of $20,000 to HomeAid Orange

County, $7,500 to HomeAid America and $7,500 to Habitat for Humanity

of Orange County, the celebration reflected on a successful first

year for the foundation and looked ahead to continued success as it

is launched at new Lennar communities throughout Southern California.

Introduced by Jeff Roos, Lennar’s regional president for Southern

California homebuilding, the ceremony included speeches from Scott

Larson, president of HomeAid Orange County; Mike Lennon, CEO of

HomeAid America; and Jim LeSieur, representative for Habitat for

Humanity of Orange County. In addition, homeowners from Lennar’s

Mystic Point and Nautical Pointe communities joined Roos and they

presented donation checks to the three charities.

“Our first year was even more successful than we had hoped for,”

Roos said. “While I am excited that we were able to contribute

$35,000 to such a worthy cause, I am equally happy to see how willing

our home buyers are to help those who are less fortunate. By

expanding the foundation to almost every new community we build, we

are indeed creating a Legacy of Hope.”
