Orange Coast off to fast start

A perfect singles sweep and a strong doubles contingent helped the

Orange Coast College women’s tennis team through the first day of the

Southwestern Tournament.

OCC swept all six singles flights with Ashley Nelson and Michelle

Wenski not losing a game in their matches.

Sabrina Tanamal and Leah Becker won both doubles matches in the

12-team tournament.

OCC resumes singles play at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. with doubles

starting at 2:30 p.m. today at Southwestern College. The tournament

continues through Sunday.

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College’s women’s tennis team improved

to 3-0, 2-0 in the Orange Empire Conference with a 5-4 victory over

visiting Riverside.

The Pirates got it done with victories in 2-3-4-5 singles and the

doubles team of Nelson and Rachael Sessum.
