OCC nets two wins

* JC MEN’S TENNIS: Orange Coast College’s men’s tennis team was a

5-4 winner at Irvine Valley in Orange Empire Conference play Tuesday,

keyed by the play of Nos. 1 and 2 singles standouts Robert Chu and

Jared Haley, who both won their singles matches, and teamed with

Denny Le and Chris Trepte, respectively, to win two of the three

doubles points. Trepte was also a winner in singles.

Orange Coast improves to 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the OEC.

Conference play Tuesday, sending the Lasers home with a 9-0 lesson to

improve to 2-0, 1-0 in the OEC.

Leah Becker, Ashley Nelson, Sabrina Tanamel, Rachael Sessum, Kai

Moriyama and Michelle Werski all played dominant roles.

* COLLEGE WOMEN’S GOLF: The UC Irvine women’s golf team is in

fourth place following the first day if the LUNA Bay Area Classic at

the Hiddenbrooke Country Club in Vallejo Tuesday.

Tenth-ranked California leads the tournament with an eight-over

296. Sophomore Stella Lee led the Anteaters with a four-over 76, good

for eighth place. Angela Won is a shot behind, carding a 77. Channing

Lovejoy is 26th with a score of 82, while Shelly Raworth is 32nd with

an 83. Sara Huber shot an 86 Monday to place 43rd.

The tournament concludes today.

* COLLEGE MEN’S TENNIS: The UC Irvine Anteaters (7-3, 2-0)

defeated the San Francisco Dons 4-3 in San Francisco Sunday. The Dons

won two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Junior

Zoran Korac, a product of Orange Coast College, defeated Joachim

Lien, 6-2, 7-5.
