Quick Chicks take third place

The Quick Chicks closed out AYSO Area K playoff action on a
winning note as the Region 117 squad edged Region 56, 2-1, in a
girls’ under-12 Division weekend contest.
The victory capped a fast finish by the Quick Chicks who ended
tournament play with a four-game win streak.
By defeating Region 56 in their tournament finale, the Quick
Chicks were able to capture third-place in the tournament.
Region 56 had grabbed a 1-0 lead before the Quick Chicks posted
consecutive goals to grab the lead for good.
The first score came when Haley Townsend fed Alison Hensley for a
goal to make it a 1-1 game, and Alex Long converted a kick for the
go-ahead score.
From there, the Quick Chick’s defense held off Region 56 the rest
of the way.
The Quick Chicks received strong postseason contributions from
forward Nicole Cannon, Kailey Ivers, Kimberly Kurdziel, Jessica
Parker and Alexandra Lawrence at halfback and the defensive play of
Kristy Verone, Lisa Fleck, Pouneh Radparvar, Braelyn Snook and Karlee
Hodgman.
In other Area K play:
Burgundy Fire 3, Region 1355 2
Burgundy Fire overcame an early, 1-0 deficit, to win its
tournament finale.
The second-place team out of Region 55 and a wild-card entry into
the Area K playoffs, Burgundy Fire wiped out the one-goal deficit
behind consecutive scores by Alyssa Gall, Kirsten Marony and Karina
Sanchez.
Goaltending duties were shared by Meagen Good and Meghan White and
the Burgundy Fire duo limited Region 1335’s potent offense to just
two goals.
Defensively, the team was led by Alyssa Johancsik with other
strong contributions coming from Megan Belvedere, Alyssa DeHoop,
Holly Imming, Angela Jaeger and Raisa Miguel.
Burgundy fire is coached by George Jaeger and Jim Good.
