Sage Hill can’t deal with Boyd

Sage Hill School’s boys basketball team came up with a pair of
20-point efforts from Kevin Joyce and Michael Fitzhugh, but it was
not enough to stem the tide of Whitney High’s Wildcats, ignited by
6-foot-1 guard Khalis Boyd’s 25-point production, in a 55-47 Academy
League victory Friday night.
The host Lightning fell behind by a 19-6 first-quarter count as
Boyd scored 12 points in that span, 16 in the first half.
“Whitney’s the quickest team in the league and they shocked us
with the quickness,” said Sage Hill Coach Steve Keith, who watched
his team fall to 7-10, 2-2 in league.
“We really had a tough time with Boyd.”
Only two other players scored for Sage Hill, netting seven points.
Fitzhugh was the Lightning’s board leader with eight rebounds.
Sage Hill hosts St. Margaret’s on Tuesday.
