Comedy troupe sets first February laughs
The OASIS Players, a new comedy group of the OASIS Senior Center
in Newport Beach, will put on its first performance at 1 p.m. Feb. 21
in the multipurpose room of OASIS, 800 Marguerite Ave., Corona del
Mar.

Chris Cox earns environmental honor
Rep. Chris Cox of Newport Beach will be the guest of honor at a
reception on Monday to recognize his work for the Upper Newport Bay
Restoration Project and for the San Diego Creek Natural Treatment
System.
Orange County Supervisors Jim Silva and Tom Wilson will host the
presentation. Guests expected to attend include officials from the
cities of Newport Beach, Irvine, Tustin, Lake Forest and Costa Mesa,
along with representatives from the Irvine Ranch Water District, the
Newport Bay Naturalists and Friends, Orange County CoastKeeper, the
Department of Fish and Game and the Irvine Co.
The invitation-only event will take place at 4:30 p.m. Monday at
the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center.
OASIS seeking volunteers
Friends of OASIS, a support group for the OASIS Senior Center in
Corona del Mar, seeks volunteers for fund-raising and other
activities.
Specialized volunteers skills that the center currently needs
include public relations coordination, local area network management,
automated database and software management, fund-raising coordination
and putting together the support group’s pancake breakfasts.
