WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved payments totaling $812,984 from the General
Obligation Bonds.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The payments cover various construction and engineering costs for
work performed at El Morro Elementary, Top of the World, Thurston
Middle and Laguna Beach High schools.
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board denied a proposed addendum to the independent contractor
agreement with Constant and Dickey Inc. to increase the contract
amount by an additional $14,134.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The district contracted with Constant and Dickey on Dec. 11, 2001,
to perform soil investigations and prepare related reports for
Thurston Middle, Top of the World Elementary and Laguna Beach High
schools. The original contract was not to exceed $47,000. The board
approved an increase of $10,000 in April 2002, which brought the
total to $57,000. The firm exceeded that amount without first
obtaining board approval.
