Unbeaten Jazz run past Spurs

E.J. Gomez came up with the first triple double of the season in
leading the Jazz to a 49-21 victory over the Spurs in a battle of
unbeaten teams vying for first place in the Senior League of the Boys
and Girls Club of Laguna Beach’s Junior NBA basketball season.
Gomez’s triple double consisted of 17 points, 14 assists and 12
rebounds.
He leads the league in assists through four games and is second in
rebounding.
Alex Vasquez led all scorers with 18 points, and Jazz teammate
Erik Vasquez had 16 points and four assists.
The Jazz is now 4-0 at the halfway point of the season.
The Spurs (3-1) were paced by Cody Duplisea, who scored six points
and had six rebounds.
In other Senior League games:
Magic 44, Heat 35
Sean Cooper and Marcus Hairston combined for 25 points, 10
rebounds and 11 assists as the Magic (1-3) recorded their first win
of the season.
Ryan Bradley finished with eight points and six assists for the
Magic.
Harrison Phelps topped the Heat (2-2) with 11 points, Jonathan
Anderson scored eight points and added five assists and two rebounds,
and Pierre Masson had 10 rebounds and six points.
Suns 23, Sonics 17
A balanced Suns scoring attack saw Jeff Chan score eight points,
Ross Hamera score six, River Myers score five points and grab 10
rebounds, Michael Garcia score four points, and Erich Vickers
contribute two as the team evened its record at 2-2.
Will Marquette’s six points paced the 0-4 Sonics, Dylan Doumeng
had 11 assists, and Lance Ussery finished with seven rebounds.
In Junior League play:
Celtics 33, Suns 17
League scoring leader Raphael Vickers hit for 15 points and pulled
down seven rebounds as the Celtics (4-0) remained in a three-way tie
for the league lead.
Bradley Nelson earned player of the game honors with eight points
and six rebounds.
Alec Loechner led the Suns (1-3) with 13 points.
Heat 22, Spurs 18
The Heat (4-0) overcame a scoreless first quarter to remain tied
for the league lead.
Dylan Norris’ nine points, six by Tyler Kesler and seven assists
by Makai Harriman lifted the Heat.
The Spurs’ Alec Jaffe earned player of the game honors with a
10-points, eight-rebounds, six-blocked shots and three-assists
effort, and Morgan Curry, the league leader in assists, had seven
assists.
The Spurs fell to 2-2.
Hornets 29, Sonics 28
Alex Masukawa scored a season-high 20 points as the Hornets (4-0)
escaped to hold on for a share of the league lead.
Ryan Dietz, the league’s leading rebounder, finished with 10
points, 12 rebounds and four assists to pace the Sonics (1-3).
Lakers 28, Magic 22
Austin Paxson, named player of the game, and teammate Zack
Everhart each scored 10 points for the Lakers (3-1).
Hunter French scored seven points to lead the Magic (0-4).
Bulls 30, Jazz 18
Michael Wiesen claimed player of the game honors, and Troy
Donenfield scored 10 points as the Bulls improved to 3-1.
Kyle Jones scored 14 of the Jazz’s 18 points and, along with
Brandon Cooper, had 13 rebounds.
The Jazz is now 1-3.
Pacers 32, Rockets 13
Player of the game Casey Miller scored 14 points, had six rebounds
and three assists to lead the Pacers to their first win of the
season.
Trevor Bergan’s eight points and five rebounds topped the Rockets
(0-4).
