More on Marinapark

I’m live right beside the proposed Marinapark, and for the
residents, more congestion and the more commercial aspect of the
Balboa Peninsula, it’s certainly not a good idea, I don’t care how
much is trimmed. For those that can make profit on this kind of
thing, I’d say probably the question is yes. The whole concept of a
hotel coming in, 110 rooms and all the supporting people needed to
make the hotel functional, to think that that’s not going to increase
traffic is absolutely ludicrous. And if anyone believes that that’s
not going to inflate traffic, I’ve got some good swamp land in
Florida and I’ve got this big bridge around San Francisco, the San
Francisco Bay Bride, it’s called. Stephen Sutherland keeps saying
he’s going to knock on every door. Well, I’ve lived here 13 years and
I attended the first forum. I have had no knock on my door.

What the Sutherland-Talla hospitality developers are promoting is
greater public access and open space where the bay is visible with
the street, all in compliance with the tideland designation of that
property. From an environmental issue, the solar infrastructure and
urban runoff from the mobile home park will be repaired. I am
confident the Newport Beach residents will vote in favor of the
resort under the Greenlight initiative.

I think that the new plan that Stephen Sutherland has submitted
would be a good one. I think we could use a nice hotel. We don’t have
that many of them here in Newport, at least by the water, and I think
that he has come down in the amount of rooms and so forth, that it
would be definitely something nice for the city.

I do think that it would be a very good idea as an improvement in
that area in Newport Beach.

I’m very much in favor of the Marinapark.
