H.B. United claims tourney title

H.B. United Gold, a boys’ Gold team, won the under-10 Division
title at last weekend’s High Five Tournament held at Fountain Valley
High.
In the tournament final, H.B. United routed Corona in a 7-0
shutout victory.
Sam Hunt led the way on offense with two goals, and Kyle Macleod,
Ferris Borudi, Tyler Bignho, Johnny Minar and Brett Bryant all scored
once.
The defense got the shutout behind the play of Cameron McArthur,
and Bignho in the net and Tyler Wilson, Bobby Ellis and Charlie
Miller in the field.
“It was a total team effort with everyone contributing,” said John
McArthur, who coaches H.B. United with John Bryant.

Kaboot wins two in area play
Kaboot, the under-10 Division champion out of Region 55, won two
games last weekend at the Area 11K tournament, beating Region 1335,
3-0, and Region 56, 3-1.
Coaches Rich Amaral and Keith Dawson got strong performances from
Jessica Amaral, Halle Bissin, Christina Blank, Aubrey Dawson, Rachel
Grant, Tayelor Martin, Sydney Podue, Katherine Renaud, Leslie
Schwene, Hailey Sweeley, Sara Vadura and Nicole Wood.
North Huntington Beach claims tourney title
The North Huntington Beach under-10 Gold team out of Region 55
laid claim to the Fountain Valley HI-5 tournament title.
In the championship match against Garden Grove, Dena Wasielewski’s
fourth-period goal tied the score at 1-1, and Nicole Camarillo’s
penalty kick in the closing seconds of the second overtime lifted
North Huntington Beach to the title.
On reaching the final, North Huntington Beach shut out each of its
opponents in pool play, led by sweeper Nicole Camarillo and keeper
Spencer Wayne.
Four players -- Aubrey Dawson, Halle Bissin, Katie Combest and
Jessica Amaral -- combined to score seven goals during pool play.
