Ready for some baseball?

UC Irvine Athletics will present its first, “Baseball Bash,” which

is an introductory event that kicks off the 2003 season, Jan. 17 at 6

p.m., at Anteater Ballpark.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet the 2003 UC

Irvine baseball team. “Baseball Bash” T-shirts will be given out to

the first 500 in attendance. Also, fans will be able to exercise

their baseball expertise and experience the batting cages, bullpens,

base running and catching fly balls.

Coach John Savage’s Anteaters finished 33-26 overall last season

in the first year of the sport at the university since 1992.

UCI was 14-10 in the Big West Conference and tied for fourth in

2002.

The Anteaters open the season hosing Fresno State Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.
