Drivers will encounter significant delays starting this week from
two major street resurfacing projects on El Toro Road and Glenneyre
Street.
The Glenneyre Street project will continue through January. The El
Toro Road project will be completed in the middle of February.
“There is no doubt that the work will cause inconveniences and
delays for motorists,” said Steve May, director of public works.
The timing for the work was chosen because January and February
are the least traveled months of the year for both highways.
The southbound side of El Toro Road, from the 73 Toll Road to
Laguna Canyon Road, will be closed for one week at a time. Traffic
will be diverted to the Transportation Corridor onramp to Laguna
Canyon Road.
Various lanes and intersections will be closed on Glenneyre
Street.
Drivers will be guided to detours by signs. May encouraged drivers
to allow additional travel time or to take other routes, if possible.
He also warned drivers watch out for construction workers in those
areas.
The city received 50% of the funds for the Glenneyre Street
project from state gas taxes and the Federal Arterial Highway
Rehabilitation Program. The street will be resurfaced with rubberized
asphalt, May said.
