Promenade mix includes everything from Trader Joe’s to Acanthus

With a spectacular ocean view, the new Crystal Cove Promenade has

a mix of national retailers, local boutiques and premier restaurants.

Williams Sonoma carries some of the best in gourmet cooking and

entertaining accessories. Cookware, linens, specialty foods and more

are available.

The Gap is known for its casual basics for men, women and

children. Trader Joe’s carries gourmet foods and drinks from around

the world. More than 800 items are made with the Trader Joe’s label,

including kosher, organic and vegetarian products.

Banana Republic offers sophisticated and relaxed apparel for men

and women, as well as a home collection, shoes, accessories, personal

care products and intimate apparel. Millie carries women’s casual

clothing and accessories. Popular brands include Blue Dot, Red Line,

Three Dot and Beautiful People. Novecento Boutique offers a

collection of European designer fashions for women. It specializes in

contemporary sportswear, suits and eveningwear. Custom fittings and

exclusive Italian shoes and accessories are available, too.

Juxtaposition Home has antiques, custom upholstery and slipcovered

sofas and chairs, home accessories and gifts. Acanthus Gallery offers

a collection of antique and architectural prints from the early 17th,

18th and 19th centuries, and decorative accessories such as lamps,

urns and unique finials. The Yellow Cottage offers home furnishings,

decor and collectibles. It has a big selection of armoires, tables,

overstuffed chairs, pillows, linens, ceramics and crystal, and

gourmet gifts.

Crystal Cove Surf and Sport offers women’s, men’s and children’s

sports apparel, as well as surfboards, snowboards, skateboards, skim

boards and accessories. Pink Wasabi is a Lilly Pulitzer store. It

carries the Lilly collection of clothes for men, women and children,

as well as home decor, shoes and accessories. Cassis has fine

lingerie, bodywear and perfume, as well as fashions from French and

Italian designers.

Starbucks Coffee offers coffees and teas, espresso drinks,

pastries and coffee-related accessories and equipment. Since the

1960s, Dansk has made quality dinnerware, flatware, glasses, cookware

and gifts. Z Pizza makes custom pizzas in a brick oven. Customers can

select all ingredients, from crust to cheese, toppings and sauce.

Retailers expected to open in spring 2003 include Jennifer Croll

and Croll Sport. Jennifer Croll offers fine women’s apparel including

contemporary sportswear, suits, eveningwear and accessories. Croll

Sport offers classic clothes for active men. La Diva is a boutique of

contemporary and cutting-edge clothing and accessories. Many labels

are exclusives to Orange County. It will also have an in-store men’s

shop, Alex Blair, with current trends for men. Pacific Whey Cafe

Bakery and Coffee Company is a casual restaurant that serves

breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pastries and desserts are baked fresh

daily on the premises, and the restaurant features its own coffee

blend.

GUCCI AT THE PLAZA

Gucci started out in Florence in 1921 as a small leather goods

company that made exclusive luggage and saddlery pieces. Today ,the

internationally recognized Gucci Company -- with a store at South

Coast Plaza -- is best known for its modern and classic apparel and

accessories thanks to Tom Ford, who took over as creative director in

1994.

Gucci has the best designs in ready-to-wear for men and women,

signature handbags and luggage, an endless selection of shoes, belts,

perfumes, watches and fine jewelry. The Jackie shoulder bag ($585)

and Bardot bag ($585 to $645) are popular here, as well as the Gucci

loafers for babies ($140 to $250).

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.

to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Gucci is on

With three locations -- Corona del Mar, Westcliff Court and a new

store at Newport Coast -- the store is known for carrying timeless

Playmobil, Madame Alexander dolls, volleyballs, pogo sticks, games,

kites and wagons. Gift wrapping is free.
