Laguna Beach resident Dan Hodes was named Top Gun Attorney of the
Year by the Orange County Trial Attorneys. Hodes specializes in HMO
and medical malpractice cases. One of his accomplishments is his
medical malpractice wrongful death verdict, the largest in the
history of Orange County. He won a $10.96-million jury verdict
against an HMO for the wrongful death of a woman. Hodes has also made
a name for himself in the Guinness Book of World Records for making
the longest open-water crossing. ... The Auxiliary of South Coast
Medical Center, a group of hospital volunteers, were honored at the
21st annual Winners Circle Charity Auction and Ball on Saturday. The
group was organized in 1956, three years before the hospital opened,
and has nearly 200 members. ... Laguna Beach resident Donnie Crevier
will receive the Book of Golden Deeds Award from the Laguna Beach
Exchange Club. The honor is to recognize people who give time, talent
and energy to help those in need and make their communities better.
Crevier has supported Laguna’s SchoolPower for 20 years and is
involved in the campaign to raise funds for the new Boys & Girls Club
facility in the city. He also developed a mentoring program at an
elementary school in Santa Ana, and a library was furnished as a
result of the program. Crevier is president of Crevier BMW in Santa
Ana and a graduate of Laguna Beach High School. He will be honored at
noon Nov. 21 at the Hotel Laguna, 425 S. Coast Highway. The price is
$16.50.
