Police seek information in hit and run
Police are looking for the driver who struck 28-year-old
Christopher Rowland during morning rush hour traffic on Sept. 26 on
the San Diego freeway just south of Beach Boulevard.
Rowland rear-ended what police believe was a white Mazda when the
driver of the car, which had been stopped in traffic, crossed over
two sets of double yellow lines and cut into the carpool lane, said
California Highway Patrol Officer Garry Goldenberg.
Rowland, on a motorcycle, was unable to avoid the car. He suffered
major internal injuries.
The driver of the car fled, although police believe that one or
two motorists who saw the accident may have chased the driver,
Goldenberg said.
While motorists may not have gotten the car’s license plate number
they might still be able to provide some details that could help
investigators.
Rowland is recovering from his injuries at UCI Medical Center in
Orange.
Anyone with information is asked to call Westminster office of the
of CHP at (714) 892-4426.
