Mother cats and kittens
The Community Animal Network has been flooded with rescued mother
cats and baby kittens and, as a result, has been having difficulties
placing them.
“We need people to help us save lives,” said DiAnna Pfaff-Martin,
founder of the organization. “Our current foster mamas are few and
overworked; family responsibilities and caring for rescue animals is
a lot of work. Saving lives means getting involved and becoming part
of the solution.”
As the number of foster families has decreased -- partially
because of the start of the new school year -- and the number of
donations it has received has also decreased, the organization has
not been able to maintain to its stock of kitten formula at its usual
discounted rate.
While raising funds and finding homes for rescued animals is most
often a struggle for the organization, it does have its share of
success stories.
The Siamese cat featured as last week’s Pet of the Week found a
home -- its original home.
“The Siamese cat was reunited with her original owner,”
Pfaff-Martin said. “She saw her cat’s photo and called us to reclaim
her pet.”
