The Courage girls soccer team enjoyed success in 2002.
The AYSO Region 120 girls 9-and-under tournament soccer team went
12-3-2 in four tournaments, beginning in January by winning the Rich
Bailey Friendship Tournament for exemplary sportsmanship while
outscoring their opponents in all matches.
Then in June they won all of their matches in the Area Q Irvine
Cup and in July they tied for second place in their pool in the
Fourth of July Cup.
In August they made it to the quarterfinals of the California Surf
and Sun Cup.
The Courage defense was anchored by Brooke Lux, Rhyanne Addam,
Anna Lux, Andy Chavez and Erin Kincaid while Rachel Kerce and Sierra
Gordon ran the midfield.
Forwards Heather Flores and Megan Crosson formed a strong front
line as Molly McFarland played goalie.
Coaches were Jennifer Crosson and Javier Chavez.
“It was fun,” Crosson said. “The girls like playing together.”
