Harbor View Swim Team breaks 10 records in relay finals

The Harbor View Swim Team continued its dominating run through

recent tournaments, breaking 10 records at the boys and girls South

Coast Swim Conference Relay Finals at Corona del Mar High last

weekend.

The Dolphins zipped through the pool, scoring a combined 619

points in 60 events in boys and girls competition, beating

second-place Green Valley by 130. Newport Hills took third place with

452 points.

Harbor View girls scored 346 points as Newport Hills came in

second with 266. The Harbor View boys led all six schools competing

with 273 points, 40 more than second-place Green Valley.

Harbor View girls 13- and 14-year-olds set four records in the

200-yard medley (2:02.52), 200 butterfly (2:03.10), 200 backstroke

(2:04.13) and 200 freestyle (1:50.44). The 200 medley was anchored by

Ashley Chandler, Holly Van Hiel, Cari Levine and Katie Indvik while

Levine, Chandler, Amy Zucker and Indvik teamed up on the 200

butterfly. Indvik, Camille Hewko, Van Hiel and Chandler set a record

in the 200 back while Chandler, Briana Galloway, Hewko and Indvik

anchored the 200 free.

Harbor View’s girls 6-and-under set records in the 100 butterfly

(1:38.12), 100 back (1:39.17) and 100 free (1:22.77). Jules Pouch,

Ellen Naruse, Mackenzie Carpenter and Regina Scholey swam the 100

butterfly, while Scholey, Naruse, Katie Craig and Pouch anchored the

100 back. Scholey, Naruse, Carpenter and Pouch won the 100 free.

And the girls 9- and 10-year-old team set two records -- 100

medley (1:05.26) and 200 breast (2:43.70). Kelsey Larson, Kate Berry,

Chelsea Giger and Heather Van Hiel won the 100 medley as Van Hiel,

Berry, Kathryn Conner and Larson teamed up in the 200 breast.

Harbor View’s successful weekend follows a victory over Huntington

Beach’s Pacific Sands Swim Team June 29, 817.5-465.5, in which Harbor

View swimmers broke four records.

Harbor View’s girls 13- and 14-year-old team broke records in four

events -- the 200 medley, 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke and the 200

freestyle while the girls 6-and-under team set three records (100

butterfly, 100 back, 100 free). The girls 9- and 10-year-old team broke two records (200 breast and 100 medley).
