A group of eight Huntington Beach elementary school teachers were
named as outstanding educators of the month by Duke’s restaurant.
Established in 1999, Duke’s Educator of the Month program strives to
highlight and recognize outstanding teachers and administrators nominated
from nine schools in the Huntington Beach City School District. Teacher’s
were nominated for the award by their colleagues.
June’s recipients were Don Convery, a teacher at Dwyer Middle School;
Pat Broccolo, from Eader Elementary School; Candise Lee, from Hawes
Elementary School; Kristen Smith, from Huntington Seacliff Elementary
School; Cindy Thompson, from Kettler Elementary School; Livy Gaddini,
from Perry Elementary School; Elaine Salamancha, from Peterson Elementary
School and Tom Watt, from Smith Elementary School.
Each teacher will receive a complimentary dinner for two at Duke’s
along with a framed plaque that will be displayed at their school.
Time Flies: reunions are fast approaching
The Ocean View High School Class of 1982 will hold its 20-year reunion

Coast College employee honored
Coast Community College District named Ardith Richey as the district
site manager of the year.
Chancellor Bill Vega presented the award to the Huntington Beach
resident during a luncheon hosted by the Coast Community College District
Management Assn.
Richey has worked for the district for nearly 22 years. Under her
direction the Physical Facilities department was responsible for the
successful management of $12 million in capital projects last year. A
graduate of Cal State Fullerton Richey has also served as a Girl Scout
leader for the past eight years.
