COSTA MESA - Recent Estancia High graduate Arlis Reynolds, who will
pursue and engineering degree at MIT, constructed a noteworthy athletic
career en route to earning the Eagles’ Girls Athlete of the Year honors.
Reynolds starred for the Eagles in volleyball and soccer as a
four-year varsity starter and all-league performer in both sports.
As a setter and middle blocker for Coach Tracey Heims’ volleyball
squad, she was a first-team All-Pacific Coast League performer as a
senior and a second-team all-league choice as a junior.
As a soccer midfielder, Reynolds earned first-team All-PCL recognition
as a senior and junior.
In both sports, she was the lone Eagle named all-league as a senior as
she consistently battled to help her undermanned teams compete.
In addition to her athletic participation, Reynolds has coached soccer
teams at Victoria Elementary.
Reynolds, who also considered Harvey Mudd College and Rice University,
will major in mechanical/electrical engineering at MIT, where she also
plans to compete for the Engineers’ women’s volleyball team.
