Prep baseball: Vaqueros top Tars

IRVINE - Newport Harbor High senior Cameron Pemstein drove in two

runs and senior teammate Jon Vandersloot went 2 for 2 with three walks,

but host Irvine captured an 11-3 Sea View League baseball victory

Wednesday.

Pemstein doubled in a run and plated another on a groundout for the

Sailors (4-18, 0-14), who host Laguna Hills Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Newport led, 2-0, heading into the fourth, but one the Sailors’ five

errors led to four unearned runs in a six-run outburst for the Vaqueros,

who added four in the fifth to blow it open.

Vandersloot also stole a base and scored a run for the Sailors.
