You can’t help but tap your toes to the beat of his smooth, melodic
tunes. Each note of Darvy Traylor’s music seems to float through the
room, spreading an air of festivity.
Traylor will showcase his musical talent May 19 at a concert
benefiting the Youth Employment Services of the Harbor Area. The event
will include dinner, dance and a show.
“Dress up and be ready to party,” Traylor said.
This is not just another benefit concert, it is also Traylor’s
birthday party, and he is going to show the people of Newport-Mesa how to
get down Darvy style.
Traylor performs a wide variety of music styles, including blues,
jazz, top 40, swing, ballads, show tunes and even country, he said. He
started his musical career as a teen traveling around the country in
Gospel groups. His humble church beginnings sparked the creation of a
distinct vocal style.
His career evolved from faith-based music to appearances in Sin City,
as Traylor has performed in various Las Vegas hotels. He has also
performed at Midnight Special in Los Angeles and Dangerfields in New
York.
The Anaheim Hills resident keeps his calendar booked by playing
various Orange County dinner rooms, including venues in Laguna Beach,
Brea and Newport Beach. Those who frequent the Balboa Bay Club on Sundays
are already familiar with his vocal stylings.
The musician owns his own production company and manages four
self-proclaimed divas, who will also entertain at the benefit concert.
Traylor said he is happy to support Youth Employment Services because
the organization encourages young people to go out, find work and create
opportunities for themselves.
And what better way to bolster a good cause than by doing something
you love, he said.
