Costa Mesa’s Uyen Mai singled with one out in the seventh inning,
breaking up Northwood’s Allyson Lewis’ perfect game, but the Mustangs
couldn’t mount a late rally as Northwood won, 4-0, in a Pacific Coast
League game Tuesday at Northwood.
The win keeps Northwood (14-7, 7-0 in the PCL) in first place, while
the Mustangs fall to (15-8, 5-2 in the PCL).
Lewis had 12 strikeouts in the shutout and has 232 for the season.
Mai stole second and went to third on Anne Marie Topps single in the
seventh, but Mai was gunned down trying to score on a sacrifice fly that
ended the game.
Costa Mesa’s next game is Thursday against Estancia at TeWinkle Park
in Costa Mesa.
