COSTA MESA - Senior J.B. Goff and sophomore Cullen Crom collected
two hits for host Estancia High, but Laguna Beach defeated the Eagles,
7-1, in a Pacific Coast League baseball game Friday.
Laguna Beach pitcher Scott Youngstead struck out seven and walked
nobody in a route-going effort, in which he tossed a six-hitter, and went
4 for 4 at the plate with a walk.
Estancia senior catcher Justin Lund singled home Goff in the third
inning for the Eagles’ only run. They fell to 3-12-1, 1-6 in league. The
Artists, who improved to 5-2 in the PCL, had 13 singles off Estancia
pitcher Paul Flory. “I think they had two hits that were hit hard,”
Estancia Coach C.K. Green said. “They beat us on dinkers and rainbows.”
