Community college men’s golf: Pirates go 2-1 in OEC match

SANTA ANA - Orange Coast College freshman Fredrik Svanberg shot
1-under par 72 on the way to medalist honors to lead the Pirates men’s
golf team to wins over Saddleback and Santa Ana in a four-way Orange
Empire Conference match, hosted by OCC at Santa Ana Country Club
Wednesday.
In a razor-close match, Palomar came up with a bit of an upset and won
with a 376. OCC followed at 377, then Saddleback 378 and Santa Ana 381.
Lou Carrasco, an OCC sophomore, shot even to contribute to the win,
while Kelly Wicks, Eric Moore and Go Koyama each carded a 78.
The OEC-leading Pirates improved to 20-3, 12-2 in conference and dealt
Saddleback its first loss of the season.
