JC swimming: OCC sweeps Hornets

COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College men’s and women’s teams
opened their dual-meet season trouncing Orange Empire Conference visitor
Fullerton Friday.
The men earned a 137-45 triumph, while the women prevailed, 145-37.
Freshman Ashley Lowden’s three individual event victories paced the
women. She topped the field in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.16), 50
butterfly (28.49) and the 500 freestyle (5:33.77). She also contributed
to the winning 200 free relay (1:55.76).
Other event winners for OCC were: Katie Sackett (27.34 in the 50 free
and 59.24 in the 100 free); Melissa Delziet (1:08.62 in the 100
backstroke and 31.71 in the 50 back): Jennifer Nelson (1:04.28 in the 100
fly and 34:72 in the 50 breaststroke); Soshana Kline (2:24.25 in the 200
free); and Stephanie Wood (1:08.89).
OCC’s Jack Yarbrough, Jason Aigner and Matt Henry each won two
individual men’s events.
Yarbrough topped the field in the 100 and 200 free (50.52 and 1:51.22,
respectively), Aigner was first in the 1,000 free (10:48.29) and the 500
free (5:17.30), and Henry touched first in the 200 individual medley
(2:09.05) and the 200 fly (2:10.19).
Other individual winners for OCC were: Tyson Beamer (22.15 in the 50
free), Jeff Sample (2:14.41 in the 200 back) and Trevor Myers (2:23.84 in
the 200 breaststroke).
