College baseball: Vanguard snuffed by Chapman

COSTA MESA - The Vanguard baseball team went scoreless through six
innings and lost, 10-3, to visiting Chapman, in nonconference action
Friday.
Despite 10 hits, the Lions (1-3) produced just three runs, including a
two-run home run by designated hitter Jason Searle in the eighth inning.
Chapman earned a 5-0 lead after three innings, that included a two-run
blast by Peter Eastman. Chapman extended its lead to 8-0, before Vanguard
got on the board in the seventh inning. Vanguard’s Matt Tisthammer and
Chad Chop collected two hits each.
Chapman pitcher Gary Van Matre earned the win allowing one run in 6
2/3 innings.
