*
Sport celebrities, business people and community members joined
parents and staff members from the Huntington Beach City School District
at the “Touchdown for Technology” fund-raiser sponsored by the Huntington
Beach Educational Foundation.
Former Rams quarterback Vince Ferragamo and two-time Olympic softball
gold medalist Laura Beg were among those at the Nov. 20 dinner and silent
auction at Meadowlark Clubhouse.
During halftime for the Rams-Redskins game, Perry Cain, manager of
government and community relations for Boeing Co., surprised foundation
President Suzanne Beukema with a $15,000 grant from Boeing.
The silent auction included items donated by local businesses and
staff members from all 10 of the district’s elementary schools.
Proceeds will benefit students through teacher mini-grants and the
awarding of annual school technology funds.
