BUSINESS NOTES

A new Target store will open in Costa Mesa on Oct. 8 at 3030 Harbor

Blvd.

The 146,500-square-foot store will employ about 250 workers and will

feature the sort of affordable housewares for which the chain is known.

Target, founded in 1962, now has 978 stores in 46 states across the

nation. Its products are aimed at fairly young and well-educated

customers with a median age of 40, according to a statement released by

the company.

Julius Jones, regional senior vice president for Target, emphasized

the benefits that Target stores bring to their communities.

“[The presence of a store] both enhances their economic vitality and

improves the lives of families here,” he said.
