The unbeaten Fountain Valley Jaguars spotted Corona an early 6-0
lead, then stormed back to post an 18-6 victory in Clinic Division play
Saturday.
Quarterback Bryce Blake finished with 137 yards on offense, which
included a 15-yard touchdown pass, and Stephan Robb scored two
touchdowns, both set up by the running of Matt Empting.
The threesome ran behind an offense line made up of Andy Palacios,
Ryan McNicol, Loren Robb, Matt James, and Benjamin Marshman.
Blake also keyed a Jaguars’ defense that limited the opposition to
under 50 yards of offense for the third consecutive week. Blake finished
with nine tackles, while Empting, Chad Palsulich, Steven Santana, Trent
Burns, Chris Martinez, and Kris Wysong, held Corona to minus-43 yards of
offense in the second half.
McNicol and Paul Fernandez each had fumble recoveries for the Jaguars,
who improved to 3-0.
Fountain Valley will host Mission Viejo Saturday (9 a.m.) at Fountain
Valley High.
