Fountain Valley Police Chief Elvin G. Miali will conduct a
badge-pinning ceremony today for Senior Officer Leslie Roberts, who is
will be promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Roberts attended Golden West College’s Police Academy and started her
career as a reserve police officer in 1984.
During her career, she worked in the detective division, where she
specialized in fraud crimes. Roberts has also served as a field training
officer and now serves as a member of the department’s Hostage
Negotiation Team.
Police investigate Wells Fargo robbery
Police officers responded to a robbery Aug. 22 at the Wells Fargo Bank
in the 16000 block of Brookhurst Street in Fountain Valley.
Police said the robber entered through the bank’s west door and waited
in line to see the teller. He displayed a note demanding money and
quickly fled into the bank parking lot. Police did not disclose the
amount of money that was allegedly taken.
The man was described as a man in his mid-30s, 5-foot-6, 140 pounds,
with a thin build. He was wearing a dark wig pulled back into a ponytail.
No weapon was seen, and no injuries were reported. Police are
continuing the investigation.
