The body of a 53-year-old man was discovered floating in Huntington
Harbor last week, after the Orange County Harbor Patrol responded to
calls from neighborhood residents.
The body, found Aug. 2, has been identified as David E. Lopez of Long
Beach, said Lt. Chuck Thomas, a spokesman for the Huntington Beach Police
Department.
The cause of death is still under investigation, Thomas said, although
there is no indication of homicide.
Thomas said he is uncertain when the cause of death will be
determined.
Robber sought in fast-food holdupPolice are looking for a robber in
connection with an Aug. 3 incident at a Jack in the Box restaurant on
Edwards Street.
The man, armed with a dark semiautomatic handgun, entered the
restaurant and confronted several employees, said Sgt. Chris Fillicichia
of the Huntington Beach Police Department.
He forced the employees to the back of the restaurant and took their
money, along with cash from the restaurant, Fillicichia said.
After stealing an undisclosed amount of money, Fillicichia said the
man fled on foot through the back door.
The robber is described as 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, and between 20 and
30 years old. He was wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, a dark
stocking cap and a nylon stocking mask.

Police seek robber in store holdup
A man in his early 20s is wanted for questioning in connection with an
armed robbery Monday at the Sunrise Liquor Store on Brookhurst Street.
Police said the man entered the Huntington Beach store and grabbed
several items on the shelf before approaching the clerk at the counter.
He then put the items on the counter and pulled a small black handgun out
of a plastic bag.
The man told the clerk to empty the cash register and put the money in
the plastic bag, said Sgt. Craig Junginger of the Huntington Beach Police
Department.
He then fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a black vehicle,
which was parked outside, Junginger said.
The robber is described as cleanshaven, 6-foot-2 with a thin build. He
was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black pants and a white baseball
cap.

Man’s body found in Central Park
A man’s body was found Monday near Huntington Beach Central Park’s
amphitheater by a passerby, police said.
The cause of death has been determined to be suicide, said Lt. Chuck
Thomas, spokesman for the Huntington Beach Police Department. Thomas said
a handgun was found near the body, which had a gunshot wound.
The name and age of the victim has not been determined, although
police believe he was an adult, Thomas said.
