HUNTINGTON BEACH - Brian Lewis, a former Corona del Mar High and
Orange Coast College volleyball standout, teamed with Canyon Ceman to win
the Association of Volleyball Professionals tour event Sunday at the
Huntington Beach Pier.
Lewis and Ceman, the No. 1 seed, defeated Karch Kiraly and Adam Johnson,
15-13, in the title match, giving Lewis, 32, his second career AVP
victory.
Lewis and his partner also defeated Kiraly and Johnson, 16-14, in the
winners bracket semifinals Sunday.
“It is very hard to play the same team (twice) in the same day,
especially as focused a team as Karch and A.J.,” Lewis said. Lewis and
Ceman split the $16,000 first prize, upping Lewis’ earnings to $33,000
in four tournaments this season and $909,864 for his career.
